sharing christ

I had an interesting, if brief, conversation with one of my friends today in school, about our beliefs. She comes from an interesting background of beliefs, which I'll probably talk about more on Sunday. For now, if you see this, could you please pray just that she'll continue thinking about this and that God will speak to her?

Any more conversations with her?

Another brief one, in which she said a couple of interesting things:
She's "the kind of person who needs hard proof to believe in something"
"The Bible says everyone's equal. So why do you discriminate against gay people?"
She doesn't want or need God/faith in God

What do you say to that (especially the last one)?

Also, after a conversation with another guy who's, well, an "aggressive" Christian, she asked me if I, too, believed she was going to hell. I said something along the lines of "Yeah, and it scares me." Then we talked briefly about some other stuff about Christian beliefs. Then, on Friday, she was having another Republican-vs-Democrat conversation with this other guy and I was listening with another girl. At one point she says she thinks I'm a Republican too, because we're both "religious." Of course we're all protesting the stereotype, and then she turns to the other girl (who by the way is a Christian too) and says, "Yeah, they both think I'm going to hell!" So now what? I was trying not to be aggressive/"fire and brimstone," but it seems like that's the impression she got anyway.

I have a bunch of conversations on my bus about God. I started talking to a girl who believed in a "higher power" but not God. And i was also talking to a guy who believes in the "big bang THEORY". After a couple of minutes they were getting angry at me, and even though there were many "Christians" on the bus they did not have the guts to stand up for the Guy who died for them. When things get aggresive, it is time to let the conversation die. Eventually they will think about it and they might bring it up/ you will bring it up when they calm down...

Hope this helps!

That's great advice Kupcake! Nobody was ever "argued into heaven."

Usually it isn't that we don't have answers, it's usually that some people just don't feel they need God. And until they do, there isn't much we can do to convince them otherwise.

I was reading Acts 28 today and Paul was telling the Jews in Rome about Jesus. It says some of them believed and some of them refused to accept what Paul was saying. God knows that we won't always be able to convince everybody, and that is okay, as long as we keep on trying without getting pushy.

Kupcake, I'm really proud of you standing up. I bet that the other "christians" on the bus will remember that the next time they have a chance to speak up for what they believe in. If not, I bet they get to heaven and God goes, "Hey you big sissy! What gives!?!" and makes them where a pink bunny suit for a hundred years or something. Okay... maybe not. But it's fun to think about.

Anybody know what to say to someone who "doesn't need/want God/faith in God"?

yeah! Im trying to convince someone about christ, but i cant really think of something to say that might persuade her! She believes in the big bang and also believes in a god/gods. She also believes in reincarnation and that heaven is only for the gods. Seriously! What do i say to someone who made up there own religion???

What is the most convincing thing about Jesus for you? I mean, what is it that makes you feel confident in God? The things that we are confident in are the easiest to talk about. So what is the answer for you? Why do you believe in God?
(I'm really interested in your answers too!)

The most convincing thing in my opinion is the facts. But that doesnt really work in this situation... What would you say luke?

I have a question about the Big Bang Theory and Evolution. Most of the time people regard them as separate things, but do they go together? Or do Big Bang people think that one second nothing (or something...?) was there and then all of a sudden the Earth and everything, including people, poofed up? It seems like they would go together because the universe is still expanding (at least according to BBT) and people don't just poof up like that, so... Did I just answer my own question?

I feel like this is a really stupid question, but evolution is easier to debunk than other theories, so knowing for sure would be good...

the BBT says that in space there was a collection of gases and matter. Then all of a sudden it went BOOM. Creating a molten rock a known as the earth. Over millions of years, the earth cooled down and poofed up some living organisms (bacteria, etc). Then through the process of evolution, created dinos and then eventually apes, then us.

Doesnt that seem a little too perfect?

People can argue that having a superior being, such as God, creating earth and everything that flows evenly to be "a little to perfect too"

True, but doesn't the theory of creation make more sense than the BBT?

Also, just had to talk about something cool that happened today. My friend who I talked about originally on this topic- she's seeming to be more and more willing to talk about it. She asks a ton of questions (albeit antagonistically) and we talk about them. Today, this developed into a 5-person conversation! I have to show you the layout of the seats 'cause that's cool too.
Okay, pretend an "x" stands for a person:
x
She's the one in front, and the three behind her are me and 2 other people who also believe in Christ!!! One of them is a guy who used to be really "aggressive" about his beliefs, but he's getting a lot better. (The other guy talking with us was sitting on her left, I'm not quite sure what he believes.)
